Award-winning garage sees demand for EV specialism grow by 300 percent

EV Specialism growth

Hebburn-based independent garage, Hogg MOT Ltd, is celebrating after investment in the business is proving to pay off in more ways than one.

As well as recently being awarded Group Auto’s Autocare Garage of the Year and North East Regional Winner 2022, the garage has seen bookings increase and demand for its specialism as a Tesla expert grow by a massive 300 percent.

Owner, Dan Hogg said: “We asked Garage Services Online to do our website just under a year ago and the difference it’s made to our business is incredible.

“So far this week, we’ve had three enquiries for Tesla work alone – earlier in the year we hardly got that many a month. We wanted the website to specifically attract this type of work and it’s certainly doing that. We’re starting to see a steady stream of Tesla owners coming our way.

“Whilst we’re a generalist garage, I decided to go brand specific and bite the bullet by going direct to Tesla for training. In March, I travelled to their factory in the Netherlands for a week’s intensive which was fantastic.

“As far as I know, I’m the only independent vehicle technician in the UK to have gone there for this type of training. The knowledge I came back with and am passing on to my technicians is invaluable. I plan to go back out every year.”

The garage, which is also well-known for MOTs, is consistently busy. Something which Dan says is also a result of their clever website.

“We were always busy, but what the website has enabled us to do is streamline the business. It attracts the business we want the most, and keeps a lower profile for the work we want the least.

“And because of that, we’re getting better quality and more specialised work on the ramps.

“I changed my thinking about websites as soon as we went with Garage Services Online. At first, I wasn’t keen on paying monthly, it seemed like another expense. But literally, just one job a month pays for it so the return on investment is huge. I don’t even think about it in that way now; it’s an integral part of the business.”

Jim Lang, managing director at Garage Services Online said: “It’s great to see Dan and his team reaping the rewards of their hard work and investment. Their website is almost an extension of their team now and we’re proud to be behind that.”
