Matt Cleevely to bring updated EV insight to The Blend 24

Matt Cleevely at the Blend

Matt Cleevely, the pioneer behind Cleevely Electric Vehicles (EV), is to share his latest EV expertise at The Blend 2024 as he calls on more independent garage owners to seize the opportunities from the UK's fast-growing EV market.

Taking place at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham on Saturday 28th September, the session promises to deliver actionable strategies for attracting and retaining EV custom, providing workshops with the insight they need to prosper.

“Cleevely EV just so happened to be the UK’s first independent EV specialist – that’s why we’ve seen the success we have,” said Matt. “I’m appealing to other garages to be the first in their county, city or town because there’s plenty of EV work for all of us.”

There are more than one million EVs on UK roads and with vehicle manufacturers now required to meet minimum targets on the number of zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) they must now sell each year, workshops can expect to see big increases in EV servicing, repairs and maintenance jobs.

“The ZEV mandate sets limits on the number of non-ZEVs that vehicle manufacturers (VMs) can sell each year,” said Matt. “This year, 22 per cent of VM sales must be ZEV which, given a lack of hydrogen cars and sustainable fuels, effectively means that 22 per cent must be battery electric. Annual mandate increases will see that ratio climb to 33 per cent in 2026, 52 per cent in 2028 and 80 per cent in 2030.”

Matt is one of many high-profile industry figures set to speak at The Blend 2024. Others include Andy Crook of Got Boost, James Dillon of TechTopics, John Batten of Auto IQ and David Massey of ADS Automotive. New speakers bringing fresh perspectives and insights to the program include Walsall Wood’s Nathan Taylor, Louise Baker of Womanic and Michael Shaikly of Shaikly Motor Company.

“The Blend brings a unique chance for garage owners to exchange knowledge, tackle the challenges, and ensure our businesses thrive in this ever-evolving market,” said Matt. “It’s been another incredibly busy year for us, which is of no real surprise when you consider the number of EVs coming of MOT age. You only need to look at the data to realise this is a fast-growing market. I can’t wait to share my latest data and lessons learnt at The Blend 2024, which is a continuation of last year’s presentation.”
