Auto Windscreens marks World Environment Day with litter pick
Auto Windscreens marked World Environment Day yesterday (Monday 5 June) with its fourth litter pick of 2023 as part of its ‘cleaner community’ initiative. A team of seven volunteers, led by Business Support Director, Shaun Atton, cleared the area of plastic and rubbish around McGregor’s Pond, near its head office in Chesterfield. This follows litter picks earlier in the year at Rother Valley Washlands at Hasland, Chesterfield Canal and around its service centre in Marnin Way in Edinburgh. In total, teams have collected 29 bags of rubbish and covered 13.5 miles so far.
Since committing to The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) last year and announcing its ambitious target to achieve Net Zero by 2045, the company has embarked on a number of projects to help reach its goal. It has introduced recycling stations in all its offices and service centres around the UK and held staff education sessions.
Shaun Atton said: “We focus on three core pillars to continually improve; these are Customers, Sustainability and Our People, and we take our responsibilities extremely seriously. We have 72 sites around the UK and our teams are committed to supporting the communities and environment in which we live, work and conduct business. We must all do what we can to help beat climate change, not just on World Environment Day, but every day.”
