DENSO teams up with Barnsley College
DENSO, the second largest global automotive parts manufacturer and system supplier, has joined forces with Barnsley College, a leading educator that has been transforming lives through learning for more than 30 years, in order to support and inspire the next generation of technicians
One of the challenges facing any place of learning is ensuring that it has the resources to support the lecturers, pupils and facilities that the faculty offers and in the case of a workshop environment, that includes practical items like consumables, as well as examples of the products that the trainee technicians need to become familiar with as they gain the knowledge they’ll require to prepare for their professional futures.
“DENSO manufactures a wide range of components for vehicle manufacturers around the globe, specialising in various technologies, including ignition with oxygen sensors, spark plugs and glow plugs, diesel with fuel pumps and injectors, rotating electrics with alternators and starters, as well as a comprehensive air conditioning portfolio,” explains UK and Eire Sales Manager, Kevin Peacocke.
“This means that we are in a position to provide the college with examples of these parts, giving them important real world experience of handling these products and understanding the roles they play within a vehicle’s systems. In addition, we will be supplying everyday consumable items like magnetic bowls to keep nuts, bolts, screws and washers to hand, and overalls to provide trainees with the personal protection they need while in the workshop.”
In addition to these practical everyday items, with its considerable automotive system knowledge, DENSO is also able to provide huge added value benefits, such as in depth technical insight through presentations and expert advice through guest speakers, which, alongside the supply of the components mentioned earlier, allows the company to assist Barnsley College with a comprehensive package of support.
“Actively contributing to the educational lives of the next generation of automotive technicians is a privilege we appreciate and a responsibility we are pleased to embrace,” Kevin continued, “so we wish both Barnsley College and the young people that study within it, great success and we are proud to play an active role in this important partnership.”
