HELLA involvement in Banbury event reinforces hometown ties
HELLA is set to play a major part in a Banbury business event later in the month, as the company continues to forge ties with its UK hometown through ongoing charity work and involvement in local motoring events.
HELLA’s sales and distribution arm was based in Banbury for almost 50 years before moving to nearby Chipping Warden in 2015, and the company is keen to ensure that while it is more out of sight, it is not out of mind in the town. It will be one of the main sponsors for BCOC Live! 2024, a local business event run by the Banbury & District Chamber of Commerce, taking place on 23 October.
Managing Director Neil Grant will also take part in a panel discussion at the event looking at major commercial issues. Key themes ‘Thriving in Change’ and ‘Winning the Talent War’ are slated to frame the conversation.
“Our sector has always thrived through change,” said Neil, “and the change continues to accelerate with electrification, ADAS advances, connected vehicles and autonomous driving to name a few. In automotive, we also know the importance of widening participation to attract the best people. Under-representation by females and young people is a key issue for our sector, and we are working hard to raise awareness of the industry and what it has to offer.”
Alongside its sales operation, HELLA manufactured a wide range of lighting and other products in Banbury. This historic link was also recently reflected by the company’s appearance at the Banbury Festival of Motoring on Sunday 29th September. “There was a great local turnout for this classic car and sports car event,” said Neil. “Our stand at the show was busy all day with people who used to work at HELLA popping over to say hello.”
HELLA also provides wider community support within Banbury, working with local organisations. During the summer, members of the team painted play equipment at local family support hub The Sunshine Centre, ready for the new school term in September. “Many of us, including current and former colleagues, have strong ties to Banbury,” said Neil, “so we want to help everyone in and around the town in every way possible.”
