Shaftec targeting £30,000 of fundraising during anniversary
In 2024, Birmingham-based automotive remanufacturer Shaftec set an ambitious target: to raise at least £6,600 for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry. Shaftec not only met their goal, but surpassed it in spectacular fashion, raising an incredible £11,343!
To follow that, with the company’s 30th anniversary taking place this year, Shaftec is going above and beyond to ensure it raises £30,000 for this special occasion. Dubbed the “30 for 30” challenge, this target highlights the team’s dedication to giving back to the community and those who need it the most.
About Zoe’s Place
Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice provides essential assistance to infants and toddlers facing intricate health conditions or disabilities from birth until the age of five. The charity’s primary aim is to guarantee an optimal quality of life for severely ill children, while at the same time extending unwavering support to their families throughout their challenging journey.
Operating from three locations in Coventry, Liverpool, and Middlesbrough, the children’s hospices are dedicated to offering respite, palliative, and end-of-life care to young ones. Zoe’s Place’s comprehensive services also encompass holistic support for the entire family unit. Through a diverse array of engaging play therapies and enjoyable activities, their team of specialised professionals collaborate tirelessly to ensure that every moment of childhood is meaningful and cherished.
The plan ahead
Looking ahead, Shaftec has already started its activities for 2025. Three colleagues have already undertaken a challenge to walk 10,000 steps every day during February, roughly equivalent to walking 5 miles/8 kilometres every day.
After taking part in the Skinflint Rally last year, Shaftec is setting out on the road again for the rally event, with the target of raising £10,000 alone as teams drive over 1,000 miles to Bovec, Slovenia. Other challenges that the team plan on undertaking include a tandem skydive on 10th May, a Starley Sportive cycling event from 19th-21st September, and other internal challenges that will collectively aim to raise another £10,000.
The funds raised will directly benefit Zoe’s Place, helping them continue their vital work and providing comfort and care to families in need.
Shaftec Marketing Manager Adrian Kitchen said: “The Shaftec team can look back on 2024 with pride, with our work both in and out of the office. It has been an extraordinary year of fundraising for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice. However, we want to take this even further than we ever thought possible, as we aim to reach a monumental £30,000 to commemorate our 30th anniversary as a company! We are embracing the challenge, and we know it is all worth it to further help an amazing charity in Zoe’s Place.”
