Air Con servicing can boost revenue, how cool!

garages can secure additional revenue by upskilling technicians and maximising opportunities for air con servicing

LKQ UK & Ireland is urging garages to make air conditioning checks a standard part of their offering to boost their revenue and is supporting them with new deals on equipment at LKQ Euro Car Parts and training through LKQ Academy.

With R1234yf systems needing servicing every two years, garages can secure additional revenue by upskilling technicians and maximising opportunities for air con servicing.

LKQ has also developed a range of specialist courses for servicing EV air con systems, which are critical for cooling electric motors, axels and battery systems, because of the risk of decreasing battery lifespan once it passes 40°C. The courses address the expert knowledge needed to service these systems, as using the wrong oil in the compressor can risk dangerous voltage leaks.

Lee Chapman, Head of Support and LKQ Academy, said: “This spring, it’ll be the first time in months that many motorists are switching on their air conditioning so many will spot faults or weaker airflows that have crept in during the winter of inactivity. Aside from providing comfort to motorists in the cabin, effective air con is essential in preventing the overheating of key safety and performance components in EVs and hybrids.”

“It’s important that we support garages preparing for this surge in demand, and so we’re discounting an extensive range of air conditioning servicing machines – available alongside a wide offering of tools for diagnosis, repair and maintenance, as well as a full range of consumables – not to mention our marketing-leading training offering.”
