  • Facility will serve as an advanced new European distribution centre

  • Eco-friendly design further supports Apollo Tyres’ sustainability goals

Apollo Tyres has opened its new European distribution centre at the VGP Park in Győr, Hungary. The new site, which includes a 24,000m2 warehouse and an additional 600m2 of office space, has easy access to Apollo Tyres’ Gyöngyöshalász factory and will serve as a hub to transport tyres across Europe.

To align with the company’s sustainability goals, the state-of-the-art warehouse has an eco-friendly design and is expected to receive a ‘Very Good’ rating from BREAMM, the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings. The warehouse has also been prepared for the installation of solar panels.

Benoit Rivallant, President and CEO of Apollo Tyres Europe, commented: “This new facility will help us improve our operational efficiency and give us enhanced flexibility in how we store products and fulfil orders. The facility has impressive environmental credentials and is ideally situated, benefitting from excellent transport links – not least for our factory in Gyöngyöshalász. This opening marks another important milestone in our strategy to grow our presence in key tyre segments and in countries across Europe.”

In October, Apollo Tyres announced it would be redeveloping its primary warehouse in the Netherlands, as part of its long-standing commitment to production in the country. All of Apollo Tyres’ European facilities will eventually be upgraded to be more sustainable and align with the company’s ambitious goal to become carbon neutral by 2050.

Károly Pálovics, Country Director of VGP Hungary, added: "The VGP Győr Park plays a prominent role in the industrial zone adjacent to the city, and Apollo Tyres is another important automotive player now operating here."
