Arnold Clark aftermarket buying team celebrates 30 years
The aftermarket buying team in Arnold Clark Autoparts is celebrating 30 years of success, with the team being pivotal in growing the business from its humble beginnings in Glasgow three decades ago, to the leading national motor factor it is today.
Back then, Craig McCracken was responsible for buying aftermarket parts for use in Arnold Clark workshops. Today, he leads a team of 10, as Group Factor Manager, with a combined 238 years of parts experience between them all.
From daily meetings with suppliers to quality testing and daily purchasing, the team works hard to offer a wide range of parts and keep prices as low as possible, without ever sacrificing quality.
Although based in Glasgow, the team can regularly be found on the road in Arnold Clark Autoparts branches and visiting customers to get direct feedback on products – often in far flung corners of the globe, as they have a hands-on approach to vet suppliers and products before introducing them to the company’s market leading range.
McCracken emphasises that buying the right parts is essential: “We go through rigorous processes to bring on new parts, and it’s important we get it right. Disappointing customers with poor parts isn’t an option for us, and we’re that confident in our aftermarket products that they are used in Arnold Clark workshops throughout the country.”
