BM Catalysts urges the aftermarket to prioritise quality
BM Catalysts is advising the aftermarket to opt for best-in-class quality when selecting catalytic converter and exhaust components, urging factors and workshops to match the customer’s vehicle requirements with a product that meets legal standards for type approval.
As a specialist in hot-end emissions, BM Catalysts recognises the importance of bringing high-quality products to market. The company encourages factors and technicians to embrace new opportunities to not only keep up with demand from an ever-evolving vehicle parc but also ensure they are equipped to service vehicles with increasingly sophisticated emissions-reducing technologies.
The key to maintaining this standard lies in strict control measures. BM Catalysts believes that true quality can only be achieved through continual improvement, investment in new technologies, processes and people, along with tight control over every aspect of production.
The company’s unique serial number system ensures complete component and product traceability, offering full transparency and reassurance to customers.
Mark Blinston, Commercial Director of BM Catalysts, said: “Unfortunately, counterfeit parts are becoming increasingly common, especially via online sellers. Many products we see in the market don’t meet the required standards. Often, these lower-specification parts haven’t undergone proper testing, or they’ve been altered post-approval, typically with reduced precious metal content to cut costs.
“This has serious consequences for the environment and public health, as some diesel particulate filters (DPFs) in these cases act as flow-through devices (POCs), resulting in increased particulate emissions through the tailpipe.
“We have an exceptional team working hard to ensure that every product we bring to market meets stringent manufacturing standards and remains fully traceable, providing customers with complete reassurance every time.”
