Copart UK Achieves Platinum Carbon Literacy Accreditation
Copart UK, has announced that they have achieved the highest accolade in carbon literacy training by being awarded the Carbon Literacy Platinum Accreditation by the Carbon Literacy Project.
Platinum is the pinnacle of the accreditations awarded by the Carbon Literacy Project, highlighting organisations as industry leaders in climate engagement and exemplars of excellence in fostering Carbon Literacy among their people.
Reaching Platinum only a year after achieving Gold highlights Copart’s ongoing commitment to tackling climate change and reducing carbon emissions, and their determination to always act responsibly and sustainably.
Copart’s journey to Platinum has included equipping more teammates across the business to help deliver training, both internally and to the industry, and promoting positive action against climate change by further extending their ESG commitment out to their supplier chain.
The company has also recently become a Silver Partner under The Carbon Literacy Project’s Partner Scheme, helping to provide the support required to expand the reach and impact of vital Carbon Literacy education and climate change action.
Jane Pocock, CEO of Copart UK & Ireland, said:
“It’s great to drive forward our strategic ambition of being a ‘Green Team’. Having over three quarters of our UK teammates now certified as Carbon Literate is an amazing achievement considering our size and scale. As a direct result, we are seeing a real shift in awareness and behaviours across our business.
“The automotive sector has a huge responsibility to champion climate action and carbon reduction and at Copart, we’re playing our part wherever we can so we can lead by example and influence meaningful, positive change.
“Becoming a Platinum level CLO supports our goal to become a greener and more sustainable business and is an integral strand of our Copart Cares strategy and our ongoing Plan-Net-Zero sustainability commitment.”
Copart’s Plan-Net-Zero also includes a commitment to operating a green fleet, the setting of science-based targets (SBTi), and the continued expansion of their UK recycling and green parts capabilities through their U-Pull-It and The Green Parts Specialists brands.
Dave Coleman, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carbon Literacy Project, said:
“Carbon Literacy is an essential skill, vital to every workplace, community, and place of study.
“By becoming a Platinum accredited Carbon Literate Organisation, Copart has demonstrated its commitment to genuine low carbon action, environmental and economic impact, and the building of a low carbon future for us all.”
