Delphi retains IMI Approval of Training Centre
Delphi’s state-of-the-art Titan 10 technical Training Centre in Warwick has retained Centre Approval from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), effective for three years. This follows a detailed IMI audit process, completed at the Training Centre during October.
“We’re delighted to have performed well and to be certificated for another three years,” said Luke Garratt, UK and Nordics Technical Services Manager at Delphi Technologies. “The training team worked exceptionally hard to facilitate the audit; it’s their ongoing care, commitment and attention to detail that enables us to deliver training that meets the IMI’s high standards.”
IMI Centre Approval covers a global network of over 600 training locations. Each is required to meet a comprehensive range of performance criteria covering business aims, quality management, documented procedures, key personnel skills and record keeping. Premises, facilities and equipment are also checked carefully.
Delphi enjoys a close working relationship with the IMI. More than 70 per cent of delegates will follow a defined training pathway mapped to Level 2, 3 or 4 IMI qualifications. These include Service, Fast- Fit, Diagnostic and Master Technician. Each pathway comprises several modules. Delegate IMI Accreditation then hinges upon completing a successful assessment day afterwards.
Delphi says demand is strongest for courses on emerging technologies like electric vehicles and ADAS. Garages are also now finding even the simplest service jobs often require skills to access the ECU safely. Delphi’s Titan 10 Training Centre includes vehicles, service equipment and test rigs for technicians to gain vital ‘hands on’ learning.
Delphi’s new Training Prospectus 2.0 lists the wealth of training solutions available to the UK aftermarket. On-site training often forms part of a ‘blended learning’ experience alongside e-learning via the Delphi Academy. This makes it easy for garages to access and refer back to over 300 courses and modules.
Each of these online modules is IMI Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited. All Delphi EV training also brings IMI TechSafe professional recognition within the IMI Professional Register to demonstrate safe working practice and proof of competence.
