DENSO Europe celebrates its 50th anniversary!

Denso 50 years ago

February 2023 marked a significant milestone in the history of the leading original equipment (OE) component manufacturer and system supplier, as it is 50 years since the company opened its first regional headquarters in continental Europe and DENSO Europe was established.

“The European business began in the Netherlands in 1973, with a workforce of just five,” explains DENSO Europe, Pan European Strategic Marketing Manager, Fatiha Laauich, “but by 1987, it had grown substantially with the addition of a new facility to remanufacture starters and alternators for Toyota.

“In 1990 a new office and warehouse was opened in Weesp, Netherlands and by the following year, DENSO Europe had a workforce of 100. In 1996, after further expansion of the warehouse and refurbishment of the offices, the company opened the current, reconstructed headquarters, which not only still caters for the company’s remanufacturing programme, but is also home to its aftermarket operation in the region.

“It’s not just in the Netherlands where things have developed however, because as DENSO Europe celebrates 50 years on the continent, its Aftermarket division now has a presence in more than 45 European countries, with in excess of 220 employees from 25 different nationalities, that together bring OE quality parts and services to the aftermarket industry.

“Despite reaching this notable milestone, this first 50 years are merely the beginning for DENSO as we look forward to the next 50 and beyond, during which we intend to combine continued financial growth and product expansion, with our core principles of environmental sustainability and peace and wellbeing for our fellow European citizens.”
