DENSO WAVE introduces a new, rectangular QR Code

Denso QR Code

The new rectangular Micro QR Code can be printed in long, narrow spaces, while retaining the outstanding scan speed and data capacity of a conventional QR Code.

DENSO WAVE Incorporated, part of the DENSO Corporation, developed the QR Code back in 1994, and, as it was introduced into the public domain, it has become the global standard and is used in a variety of different fields.

DENSO’s new rectangular Micro QR Code, or rMQR Code for short, comes as a consequence of further development of existing QR Code technology to make it possible to create a code that is easy to read, while being rectangular in shape, instead of the typical square version that is nowadays, so familiar. As a result, the new code can be reproduced to appear in long, narrow spaces, such as box edges or margins and therefore effectively contributes to information management in small spaces with a limited height dimension.

While the shape of the rMQR Code is new, it retains the same outstanding scan speed and data capacity characteristics of a common QR Code. In fact, the rMQR Code stores up to 361 numeric characters, 219 alphanumeric characters or 92 kanji characters.

The rMQR Code therefore contributes to the efficient management and use of information and resources in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing. In addition, the rMQR Code is ISO certified and, in the same way as the original QR Codes, can be used freely and easily by users worldwide.

With the introduction of the rMQR Code model, DENSO has made use of extremely small spaces that had previously been difficult to reach, completely achievable. Its possible uses range from product traceability in factories and supply chains, to products and printed matters that place emphasis on design. By replacing barcodes with rMQR Codes, the characters or pictures that a company wants to show, can also be enlarged and more information conveyed.

The new rMQR Code is therefore the ideal addition to DENSO’s range of QR Code models, which include the conventional QR Code, Secure QR Code (SQRC®), Frame QR Code or Micro QR Code and together, offer the ideal solution to every information delivery challenge.

DENSO WAVE Incorporated was established in 2001 to improve productivity in the industrial world in its four business fields: the AUTO-ID business for developing, designing and selling barcode, QR Code and RFID readers; the robot business for developing, designing and selling industrial compact robots; the controller business for developing security controllers and programmable controllers; and the system solution business for offering security, cashless and QR Code solutions.
