Oxfordshire coach company praises “innovative” solution to skills crisis

OMC Global looked to address its staff shortage by taking on an overseas technician in 2024 with the support of Easy2Recruit

Oxfordshire-based transport operator OMC Global looked to address its staff shortage by taking on an overseas technician in 2024 with the support of Easy2Recruit, the agency helping garages hire overseas talent. Six months on, the company “couldn’t be more pleased” with the result.

OMC Global offers a wide range of services, including coach hire for corporate events, school trips, airport transfers and private tours, all supported by a workshop team based at the company H.Q in Witney.

Keeping this team fully staffed had become increasingly challenging, which led the company to approach Easy2Recruit. With their help, Majid Hussain joined the operation in August 2024. Originally from Pakistan, he had already moved abroad to work. Prior to coming to the UK, he had been a technician at a government-run workshop in Dubai. Upon joining OMC Global, the company was able to take advantage of his wide experience, built up working on buses, coaches, and luxury 4x4s over a period of 15 years.

“The integration of Majid into our workshop team was seamless,” said Satnam Singh, Operations Director at OMC Global. “Easy2Recruit offered an innovative solution to our ongoing staffing issue, and it certainly paid off. The company showed us several candidates, and after we selected Majid, Easy2Recruit dealt with all the immigration paperwork, and found him accommodation too. Once Majid joined our team, he got straight to work, and we couldn’t be more pleased with his performance.”

Majid is also happy with where he finds himself: "It's wonderful to be able to showcase my talents in the UK,” he said.
