  • Point S Tyre & Autocare has become an Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Approved Training Centre

  • The network successfully met the IMI’s exacting standards and joins a select group of organisations whose training is officially recognised by the industry association

  • “Building a comprehensive training offering needs to be done methodically, and this is a critical milestone in the process” – Jon Taylor, Point S UK and European Training Manager

Point S Tyre & Autocare, the UK’s leading independent tyre dealer and car maintenance network, is now officially recognised as an IMI approved centre.

The achievement is a significant step towards Point S’ goal of becoming the largest qualified and certified European network for electric vehicle maintenance by 2026.

The IMI has strict criteria and high standards that must be met by any organisation seeking Approved Centre status. To ensure Point S’ capability to work in alignment with the objectives of the IMI, the business was subject to a thorough analysis of company policies and procedures, as well as an evaluation of its training course material, training personnel and delivery plan.

Gaining IMI Approved Centre status demonstrates that Point S’ training proposition meets the exacting standards of the industry’s most recognised professional association, placing the business alongside a select group of further education colleges, specialist training providers, vehicle manufacturers and retail dealership groups.

Jon Taylor, Point S UK and European Training Manager, said, “I am extremely proud of the progress that we have made in a relatively short space of time. Building a comprehensive training offering needs to be done methodically, and this is a critical milestone in the process.

“Naturally, the IMI has high standards for its Approved Centres, but we’ve ensured that our training proposition goes above and beyond the required level, right from the start. I’m really looking forward to welcoming Point S members to our first training courses later in the year.”

Last year, Point S announced Taylor’s appointment as a dedicated UK and European training manager with overall responsibility for building a market-leading training programme for network members. Gaining IMI approval provides strong foundations on which the Europe-wide programme can now be developed.
