Schaeffler’s all-new REPXPERT Wrenches and Wisdom video series got off to a flying start last week (Tuesday 17th September) with a special live training event hosted by Colin Denton, Star of TV’s ‘Classic Car Garage’ and Chief Executive of the North London Garages Group Training Association (NLGGTA), which was held at the organisation’s Enfield site.

The new series has been designed to put apprenticeships in the spotlight, and to provide a platform for garage owners and technicians across the country to share their stories and experiences with the up-and-coming mechanics of tomorrow.

“Last week’s training day set the tone for what the Wrenches and Wisdom series will offer the sector,” said Matt Selby, Sales and Marketing Director at Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd.

During the morning session, a specially invited audience of apprentices and trainee vehicle technicians were given the opportunity to learn about transmission systems and double clutches from senior REPXPERT Alistair Mason. During lunch there was a Laser Tools showcase, followed by a live 2CT installation demonstration, again presented by Alistair. To round things off, Product Specialist Brad Adams delivered an INA belt drive presentation and a live timing belt system replacement demonstration.

The delegates were also presented with a special edition Laser X REPXPERT Torque Wrench on the day, courtesy of Schaeffler, along with a Laser Tools goody bag from Tool Connection.

“This was a fantastic day for everyone involved,” said Matt. “The future of the aftermarket depends on garage owners and vehicle technicians keeping up-to-date with the latest products, tools and training in order to compete with the main dealers. With help from forward-thinking suppliers such as Schaeffler, the next generation of technicians can also be prepared to repair the vehicles of tomorrow.

“Thanks to Colin and the team of Schaeffler REPXPERTS, we have already taken a significant step. The new Wrenches and Wisdom video series will take this mission to the next level.”
