Ring announces new Divisional Director of Ring Carnation

Ring Carnation

Connor Beard has recently joined Ring Carnation and will be responsible for the continued success and growth of the Ring Carnation business unit and its brand reputation by delivering cutting-edge new solutions and exceptional customer care.

The position became vacant when Richard Morley retired after a long and fruitful career at the end of May. A well respected and personable personality to many in the aftermarket, with previous roles at Hella, Klarius, SMP Europe before finishing off an outstanding career at Ring.

Ring Carnation are specialists in automotive electrical power management and control, that has been the market-leading supplier of switching systems with the emergency services since 1995, with the well-renowned GenisysTMsystem remaining the controller of choice for the majority of regional NHS fleets.

Formerly, Connor was the Operations Director for Baldwin & Francis Ltd, who specialises in bespoke manufacture of Low to Medium Voltage (LV/MV) electrical power management and control solutions into Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) into a range of sectors. There he was responsible for managing all operations and the successful project management of major equipment projects for the company, as well as the Igranic Power range of products that the company also held the IP and manufacturing rights for. His experience working within the bespoke manufacture of electrical power solutions into no-fail CNI applications, make him an ideal fit to lead the Carnation team going forward.

Previous to this, Connor was a Captain within the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in the British Army. There, he was responsible for managing the engineering and equipment support of large and complex operational fleets, and, as a professional electro-mechanical engineer, he led multiple vehicle/equipment capability development and modification projects to ensure that the technological advantage in the hostile environments they were operating in were maintained and leveraged. Connor hopes to draw on his experience from managing large fleets to add value to our customers and end-users, making mission-critical vehicles and equipment more robust and effective for our Nation’s finest when carrying out their important duties.

Connor said: “From my short time within the Ring Carnation team, I’ve been most impressed by the positive environment and culture; everyone is passionate about what they do, and passionate about doing their best for each other, the customer, and the end-user. The personal bonds between team members, and their compassion for one another demonstrates excellent team spirit and a shared purpose – the work culture and customer focus within Ring Automotive / Carnation is second to none”.

“The core Genysis system has so much transferable utility to add value in other sectors, and the sheer number of potential opportunities to be unlocked through minor development is extremely exciting.”

“Ring Carnation is a small, highly technical and tight knit team, primed to collaborate and innovate. Together, they are capable of exciting things, and only require investment and focus to achieve this and do even greater things.”

“The support and appetite to resource and invest this innovation and development from the leadership of Ring Automotive and ams-OSRAM is there. Plus, there are subject matter experts and other resources sat within the group to assist with any new innovation or product development.”

“Therefore, the opportunity, capability, and desire exist for the business to do incredible things in the future. This really excites me, and breaking new ground over the years ahead will likely be one of the more enjoyable and rewarding parts of the role.”

“When presented with the details of the job role and the vision they had for the future, it was clear to me that this was a position in which I could leverage the full breadth of the knowledge, skills, and experience gained within the British Army and Baldwin and Francis Ltd to add value to the business and its customers; so, I’m very excited to take this position and make the most of this opportunity.”
