UK Garage & Bodyshop backs next generation for Apprenticeship Week
To mark National Apprenticeship Week, the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event has launched both a school pupil, work experience initiative and college student programme in partnership with School of Thought and Autotech Group, as it continues to champion and support the next generation of automotive talent.
The event held at the NEC, Birmingham from 5th – 6th June, will support School of Thought’s work experience initiative with a first of its kind SHOW MAKER PROGRAMME, by offering 10 students the chance to become ‘SHOW MAKERS’, helping with event set up, while gaining an invaluable insight into the industry over the course of three days.
What’s more, the UK Garage & Bodyshop Event will also be launching its official student programme on 6th June 2024 for the first time at the show.
Dave Reece, founder of School of Thought, said: “The Year of Automotive Work Experience is in full swing, and we encourage all companies exhibiting at the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event to offer young people a work experience placement in 2024 and into the future.
“The talent is out there so let’s show young people that there are great careers in the automotive industry. All companies will be welcome on our stand to chat about how we as an industry can address the single biggest long-term problem.”
Meanwhile, delivered with partner, Autotech Group, the student programme aims to engage fresh talent and showcase the array of real-life, exciting and prosperous opportunities within the ever-evolving, and increasingly complex, sector.
James Mackay, Managing Director, Autotech Academy, commented: “Autotech Group is committed to creating opportunities for young people within the aftermarket. Our Autotech Academy division is testament to this, as it has created a new approach in the appointment of young talent into the industry, one which complements apprenticeship programmes.”
Student programme places are extremely limited and the sign up link will be released soon, any queries can be directed to lynsey.steinmetz@autotechgroup.co.uk.
‘SHOW MAKERS’ must be in year 11 or above, have permission form signed by parent or guardian and be able to get to the NEC Birmingham and back home for each of the three days between 8am and 3pm
There are only 10 ‘SHOW MAKER’ places available, and those interested should email dave@ready4work.uk to confirm their place.
