ZF Aftermarket is set to take the spotlight in two upcoming episodes of Car SOS, as renowned TV presenter and engineering expert Tim Shaw visited both ZF Aftermarket's Centre of Competence in Nottingham and Brake Engineering's Centre of Excellence in Wrexham to showcase the company’s expertise in remanufacturing and advanced vehicle technology.

The episodes will air on National Geographic on 8th May and 15th May and will be repeated on More4 and Channel 4.

Tim Shaw’s visit to the Nottingham facility offered a unique insight into ZF Aftermarket’s state-of-the-art remanufacturing processes and technological innovation.

The Centre of Competence in Nottingham is at the forefront of automotive engineering, delivering high-performance solutions for a wide range of vehicle systems. The episode will highlight the facility’s capabilities in producing top-quality parts and its role in supporting the automotive aftermarket with cutting-edge solutions.

Meanwhile, the episode airing on 15th May will feature Brake Engineering’s Centre of Excellence in Wrexham, where Tim Shaw explored the meticulous remanufacturing process behind the company’s renowned brake calipers.

Brake Engineering has built a strong reputation for its 10-stage core remanufacturing process, ensuring that each caliper meets or exceeds OEM standards. The episode will highlight the importance of remanufacturing in reducing waste, minimising environmental impact and delivering reliable braking performance.

Tim Shaw’s involvement with Brake Engineering extends beyond Car SOS. In late 2024, he collaborated with the brand to release a series of three videos focused on the art of remanufacturing calipers.

The campaign centred around a set of Ford Scorpio Cosworth rear brake calipers, which Shaw brought to Brake Engineering’s Wrexham facility for expert restoration.

The videos demonstrated how worn components are carefully rebuilt to match the performance and durability of new parts, reinforcing Brake Engineering’s commitment to sustainability and quality.

Remanufacturing remains a key focus for Brake Engineering and ZF Aftermarket. By reusing core materials and reducing the need for new manufacturing, the process significantly cuts waste and carbon emissions – Brake Engineering alone saves 951 tons of CO2 emissions every year through remanufacturing.

This aligns with ZF’s wider goal of supporting a circular economy and reducing the environmental impact of vehicle maintenance.

As the automotive industry faces increasing challenges from low-quality imported parts, ZF Aftermarket and Brake Engineering continue to lead the way with high-quality, reliable solutions.

The upcoming Car SOS episodes will shine a light on the expertise and innovation behind ZF’s remanufacturing processes, setting the standard for quality and sustainability in the aftermarket sector.

Tune in to Car SOS on National Geographic on 8th May and 15th May to discover the full story behind ZF Aftermarket and Brake Engineering’s remanufacturing processes.
