Apollo starts deliveries of long-haul trailer tyre

Apollo Long Haul Tyre
  • The first truck tyre from Apollo Tyres to achieve A-rating for rolling resistance

  • Apollo Tyres’ most durable and fuel-efficient trailer tyre

  • EnduMile LHT is now available to European customers

  • Optimised design and innovative technology; part of a two-year development and test programme

Apollo Tyres has commenced deliveries of the highly-anticipated EnduMile LHT, the company’s first dedicated Long-Haul Trailer (LHT) tyre. The tyre provides impressive levels of performance across the board, including an A-rating for rolling resistance – a first for an Apollo Tyres truck tyre.

The new product is the most fuel-efficient truck tyre ever produced by Apollo Tyres in Europe and globally and has been developed to outperform the market’s best-performing LHT tyres. The ‘free-rolling’ tread pattern, designed specifically for trailer axles, incorporates a compact centre rib to assist roadholding and ensure efficient operation, while achieving an A-rating for road noise.

The tyre features a broad and stable contact patch that optimises pressure distribution, and an all-new blend of polymers and fillers minimise rolling resistance while delivering consistent levels of grip on wet surfaces. Its innovative compound also helps to manage temperature changes during prolonged use to maintain its superior performance characteristics and aid durability.

The EnduMile LHT uses a strong carcass that facilitates retreadability for lower whole-life costs – a key requirement for many European long-haul customers.

Manufactured at Apollo Tyres’ advanced production facility in Gyöngyöshalász, Hungary, the tyre has undergone a stringent test process spanning over two years. Led by Apollo Tyres’ European R&D team based in the Netherlands, the EnduMile LHT has been subject to both virtual and real-life tests to create the product that is available today.

John Nikhil Joy, Cluster Director Europe – Truck & Bus Tyres, at Apollo Tyres, commented: “There has been growing demand from customers for Apollo to launch a tyre of this type, and its breadth of capabilities gives us cause to be optimistic about it taking sales from well-established rivals. Our R&D team has worked tirelessly to develop a tyre that has extremely low levels of rolling resistance while supporting vehicle range, driving performance and long-term durability – three key areas for the long-haul market.”
