Shaftec’s NTR for November Focuses on Calipers

This month, Shaftec has introduced a further 15 remanufactured brake caliper references and one steering pump to its ever-growing portfolio. This means that a total of 69 calipers have been introduced in 2023 to date. This latest range extension comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Shaftec has been ranked number one in the UK not only for calipers, which achieved 96.65 percent vehicle parc coverage, but across all its product groups: transmission, steering, and braking.  

Key caliper applications of the range extension include parts to fit the following vehicles: Jaguar F-Type convertible (2017 onwards), AUDI Q5 (2008->2017), FIAT 500X (2014->) and Range Rover Evoque (2011-2019). The steering pump is for the IVECO Daily VI Van (2014 onwards).

Shaftec’s marketing manager, Adrian Kitchen, commented: “We pride ourselves on getting new parts to market, quickly; and at a fair and competitive price. This way, the garages can confidently and quickly do their job and pass on any savings to encourage return custom.”

“Our remanufactured calipers undergo a process which results in components that are as good as new, tested as new and perform in that way for the lifetime of the part. Each Shaftec branded brake caliper is stripped right back to the original casting and inspected to ensure that there are no defects. All are then refurbished and reassembled by hand using brand new components.”

The business has been remanufacturing brake calipers since 2007 and business growth is impressive. As a newly titled TecDoc Premier Data supplier, Shaftec offers a full caliper programme of more than 5300-part numbers from its Midlands-based modern production facility. The full programme comprises both new and remanufactured parts, painted calipers, and Electric Parking Brake (ECB) calipers.

Shaftec top-tips

Here are some signs that your brake calipers might need changing:

•              Reduced stopping power: If you notice that your vehicle is taking longer to stop than usual.

•              Pulling to one side: Your brake caliper might be seized if the car pulls to one side while braking.

•              A sticking caliper could cause the brake pads to wear unevenly.

•              A stuck caliper could cause a grinding noise when braking.

•              And last but certainly not least, damaged caliper seals can cause the vehicle to leak brake fluid which can be dangerous.
