TerraClean renews sponsorship with former champion Colin Turkington

Terraclean sponsors Turkington

TerraClean has renewed its sponsorship with former British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington, continuing their partnership into the 2023 season which will see the decarbonising specialist’s branding appear on Turkington’s BMW racing car.

News of the renewed partnership with TerraClean comes as Turkington recently announced his continuation with West Surrey Racing (WSR) team for the 2023 BTCC season, to pilot the BMW 330e M Sport once again for his 19th season in the series.

TerraClean made its first step into the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at the beginning of 2016 with Turkington, and after seven successful seasons the business has confirmed the continuation of the relationship into 2023, with TerraClean’s branding prominently appearing on the former champion’s car and overalls.

Four-time British touring car champion, and TerraClean ambassador Colin Turkington, said: “After a thrilling 2022 season where we were really in the thick of the championship battle right up until the final weekend at Brands Hatch, our sights are set on winning the championship again.

“The whole team has been working hard over the off-season to improve the racing package we had last year and has developed a few significant upgrades. We always try to be better than the season before, so we’ll be aiming to be title contenders,” Turkington adds.

Phillip Dowd, sales director at Randstad, said: “Having a driver of Colin’s calibre as a brand ambassador for TerraClean provides us with a fantastic opportunity to increase brand awareness further, so we’re delighted to continue our partnership into the 2023 season.”

The 2023 BTCC season kicks off at legendary racing venue Donington Park in Leicestershire on 22nd April. Nine further race weekends comprising qualifying and three races follow at Brands Hatch Indy, Snetterton, Thruxton, Oulton Park, Croft and Knockhill, before the return to the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit for the first time in more than 20 years, then Silverstone, with the championship decider back at Brands Hatch on its Grand Prix circuit layout.

Prior to the new season starting Turkington has been preparing to return to the race seat of his TerraClean-adorned BMW 330e M Sport, to mount a serious challenge to be the first ever five-time BTCC champion.

“The objective, whilst much easier said than done, is always to try and win the championship outright. I’ve had success in the past and I firmly believe I can do it again. Since my last championship win in 2019 I’ve come very close every year since,” Turkington said.

“BTCC is non-stop, when you don’t win, you’re hungry to put things right and start preparing for the following year. Over the winter months it’s been good to take a breather and decompress. I’ve been doing sim work and training to stay fit and keep my eye in and make sure my brain is fully engaged ahead of the new season. Hopefully this is my year again, and alongside that we’ll be looking to reclaim the manufacturer’s title for BMW,” Turkington said.

Colin Turkington won the British Touring Car Championship in 2009, 2014, 2018 and most recently in 2019, his fourth title, and has taken 63 race victories over an illustrious career to date, featuring drives for WSR, Vauxhall and Team BMR’s semi-works Subaru outfit.
