Content creators to offer expert advice via auto:resource

Rachel Murray

Automotive aftermarket training and directory platform, auto:resource, has appointed two community editors to share blogs about key industry topics.

Joining are award-winning paint technician and refinishing expert Rachel Murray, and mechanic and electric scooter championship team boss, Hannah Gordon.

auto:resource, launched by Messe Frankfurt, organisers of Automechanika Birmingham, offers the latest market trends and insights, while providing aftermarket practitioners access to training and education, detailed product and service information, plus exclusive offers and incentives from industry brands.

The platform also highlights news from a variety of aftermarket media sources and champions the latest updates from a wide range of industry players.

Rachel Murray, owner of Paint by Rach, has become a well-known figure in the industry, after launching her career in paint and refinishing in 2016. She has since worked alongside some of the largest paint companies in the world, going on to win Bodyshop magazine’s coveted Paint Technician of the Year title in 2021.

As a keen mental health campaigner, Murray will use her new role as community editor to advocate for more inclusivity and support around mental health in the sector: “I’m currently publicly opening up about my own struggles with mental health in a bid to make others feel more comfortable speaking up about their own struggles,” she said.

Murray is also striving to help the industry address the skills shortage, adding: “By creating both fun and informative content to really showcase the skills and careers available within the sector, we can highlight to the next generation the exciting opportunities on offer and help to bridge the ongoing skills gap by bringing in fresh talent.”

Hannah Gordon is another established name within the industry and her latest venture will see her transfer her skills as a vehicle repair workshop business owner to an exciting new TV series landing in 2023.

Along with her new role as auto:resource community editor, she has been managing a team in the pioneering eSkootr electric scooter championship, and she’s looking forward to sharing key, relevant insights that she has learnt from this experience with the automotive aftermarket.

“The car repair industry has given me so much enjoyment and personal achievement that I wanted to share that passion with others. The sector is changing, and new technologies make this a really exciting time to be a part of it,” Gordon said.

The eSkootr championship was formed for its debut season in 2022 taking place across European capital cities to promote the use of safe and sustainable mobility in urban areas.

Gordon adds: “I run a team in a new electric scooter championship, which involves making sure the scooters are maintained properly, the set-up is correct and also that the riders are performing at the best of their ability.

“So much is going on with the automotive aftermarket, with new technology coming through, such as alternative power – hydrogen and synthetic fuel are paving the way. Car repair will need to change to ensure it can keep up with these changes and the job of a mechanic will start to take a different form.

“How people use cars is also evolving and I think soon we will see a different way of purchasing and driving cars; self-driving cars is an interesting topic, and one which many people aren’t keen on.”

auto:resource is an innovative, free to use platform and designed specifically for the UK automotive aftermarket, including garage owners, technicians, bodyshops, mobile repairers, franchised dealerships, breakdown, motor factors, distributors, and retailers.

The easy-to-use website will allow quick access year-round to source product content, technical information, service solutions, and connection with suppliers to help businesses grow.
