Copart Boosts Vehicle Storage Capacity in Northeast of England
Copart UK have announced an expansion of their Operation Centre in Peterlee, County Durham.
With land adjacent to their existing Peterlee site having become available following the closure of the previous occupant’s business, Copart have taken the opportunity to expand in response to increasing customer demand in this area.
Construction is now going ahead to increase Peterlee to a 42-acre site, significantly boosting vehicle storage capacity for Copart’s customers operating in the northeast of England.
The expansion will enable Copart to provide dedicated handling zones for vehicles that require their specialist processes, including EVs, HEVs, and flood and fire damaged vehicles.
The company said that dedicated bio-diversity space is also being ringfenced as part of the expansion works.
Copart anticipates the expansion works to be completed by winter 2025.
Jane Pocock, CEO of Copart UK & Ireland, said:
“The need to increase our presence in the northeast in response to customer demand has coincided perfectly with this opportunity for expansion at our Peterlee site.
“It will enable us to increase the reach of our industry leading services and support the national growth of our onsite Contact Centre, which provides vital first response and policy holder management services.
“The additional storage capacity will provide unique contingency land to our customers following extreme weather events and support growing demand for the handling of EVs and other specialist vehicles.”
