Standox helps Fix Auto Redhill work more sustainably
In a time where energy costs are rising, reduction of energy use has never been more important. This, coupled with the importance of building more sustainable businesses, has seen many business owners actively integrating sustainable practices to their businesses. Andrew Melnick, Managing Director at Fix Auto Redhill, Surrey, is no different.
In August 2024, Fix Auto Redhill switched to Standox, one of the global premium refinish brands of Axalta, as its sole refinish paint supplier. Eight months on they have made significant strides forward in terms of energy savings and sustainability thanks to the Standox Xtreme System, based on Axalta’s in-house, patented Fast Cure Low Energy technology, which uses temperature and ambient humidity to save time, to increase efficiency and to minimise energy consumption.
Andrew says, “Switching to Standox aligns with our sustainability efforts perfectly and is just one of the ways we have improved our energy efficiency and minimised our waste. We’ve worked closely with our supplier LKQ UK and Ireland to move to a combined system of paint and clear coatings that cure in shorter time frames. In a relatively brief period, we’ve already seen that working with Standoblue Basecoat as part of the Xtreme System has quantifiably reduced bake cycle times, energy usage and wastage as well as ultimately lowering our CO2 emissions. Thanks to this advanced refinish coating technology, we ensure that our processes are both efficient and environmentally responsible, while still producing the high-quality results our customers expect of us.”
Jason Hopkins, UK Country Manager Axalta Refinish and U-POL, says, ”At Axalta, we innovate to help our customers build more sustainable businesses that are future ready. We are delighted and unsurprised that Andrew and his team at Fix Auto Redhill have experienced tangible results so quickly with the Fast Cure Low Energy technology.”
Fix Auto Redhill has embraced sustainability beyond just the switch to Standox. The facility uses energy-efficient lighting, eco-design compliant welding equipment, which meets the latest energy-efficiency standards, and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel. Together, these enhance its operational efficiency while at the same time reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions by up to 90 per cent.
