Ingenia Recruitment are working alongside Sunderland University, and a group of Senior Managers from well-established North-East automotive businesses, in order to promote a fantastic career path to future graduates.

Steve Shaw (Director of Ingenia Recruitment), Anthony Rockingham (Managing Director of Croxdale Group), Richard Hyde (Head of Business of Lookers Audi) and Billy Upton (General Sales Manager of Stoneacre Newcastle) met up with senior representatives from the University’s Faculty of Business, Law and Careers Service (Sunderland Futures).

This collaboration between motor dealers and Sunderland University, could potentially lead to live business exposure for the students, as well as providing the automotive industry with graduates who have some valuable knowledge of the automotive sales process.

The motor trade is a highly competitive industry, so gaining access to these graduates will only help automotive businesses develop innovative solutions for the future.

During lockdown, motor dealers learnt how to conduct transactions online and allow contactless handovers. Online car sales increased rapidly over the period; therefore, motor dealers adapted and enhanced their websites to gain a competitive edge.

Online has become an essential tool for dealers, and increasingly manufacturers, and has changed the sales process forever.

These days, when it comes to recruiting, dealers are increasingly looking for people who are social media savvy and able to draw customers in online.”
