FAI highlights high-performance Timing Belts to tackle winter demand
Timing belt failures often spike during the winter months due to the added stresses of the colder weather. Low temperatures can harden rubber components, increasing the likelihood of cracks, brittleness, and eventual failure, says FAI Automotive.
The company is highlighting its leading Timing Belts range, designed to meet the precise needs of modern engine technology. With a focus on durability, stability, and minimal maintenance, these belts provide a reliable solution for workshops looking to reduce downtime and ensure optimal engine performance for their customers.
Nick Smith, Head of Product Development at FAI Automotive, says: “For garages, workshops and technicians this is a critical time to ensure vehicles are fitted with high-quality timing belts that can withstand the rigours of winter driving. And factors should consider stocking brands such as FAI, to meet seasonal demand.”
Built to withstand the demanding conditions of today’s engines, FAI Automotive's timing belts incorporate advanced materials and design features that ensure longevity and dependable operation.
Grown from a rich British car racing heritage, FAI Automotive has a long-established history in the supply of precision-made engine components to the aftermarket in the UK, Europe and beyond.
FAI’s timing belts are engineered with moulded teeth composed of shear-resistant rubber. These teeth are manufactured to close tolerances for consistent pitch and length, ensuring seamless integration with pulley systems and reducing premature wear.
The tooth side of FAI’s timing belts is reinforced with a tough, specially woven nylon fabric that has undergone chemical treatment to minimise pulley friction. This fabric is filled with a synthetic rubber compound that resists oil, abrasion, and ageing, prolonging the life of the belt.
To ensure strength and stability, FAI’s timing belts are reinforced with high-tensile glass fibre or Flexten cords. These cords maintain dimensional stability under load, preventing belt elongation and ensuring perfect engagement with pulley grooves for smoother, quieter operation.
FAI has selected high-performance materials such as Polychloroprene and HNBR compounds to meet the demands of modern engines. These compounds offer superior durability, smooth operation, and resistance to ageing, making them ideal for both high-performance and long-lasting service life.
Smith adds: “Our latest timing belts range is the culmination of extensive research and development aimed at delivering maximum precision and reliability for our customers. We’ve focused on using cutting-edge materials and manufacturing techniques to ensure that our timing belts can withstand the most demanding environments and deliver long-lasting performance."
