Growth plans see RAC Dealer Network increase number of warranty consultants by 15%

RAC Dealer Network manager, Lee Coomber

Growth plans mean that the RAC Dealer Network is planning to increase the number of motor warranty consultants it operates by more than 15% before the end of 2022.

Lee Coomber, RAC sales agent director at Assurant, which partners with the RAC in the dealer and aftersales sectors, said that numbers were expected to rise as high as 50 across the UK from a current 43.

“Motor warranty consultants play an important part in supporting our existing network of over 1,200 dealers, helping them to get the most out of our range of warranty, service plan and insurance products in terms of meeting car buyer needs in an effective manner as well as increasing revenue.

“We want to both grow the number of dealers in the network and the penetration of our products in the second half of this year and into 2023, and are now starting to recruit in support of this strategy, with new motor warranty consultants required in areas across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“When it comes to the channels through which we operate with dealers, our approach is very much two pronged. We invest heavily in technology to make the provision and management of our products as easy as possible – but we also understand the importance of having people on the ground. Motor retail remains a very human business and many of the consultants we have working in the field have decades of experience in supporting dealers, with relationships that place them at the heart of those businesses when it comes to building effective propositions.”

Lee added that the RAC brand as well as the depth of experience and resources of Assurant had previously played a strong role in attracting new consultants.

“In a market such as warranties where there is little immediate brand recognition, the RAC name has genuine value. Effective motor warranty consultants understand the ways in which it can be incorporated into propositions created by Assurant that deliver for both. We are sure that high quality candidates will be attracted to our new positions for these reasons.”
