carwow’s ‘Buy It’ Awards 2023 UK winners are crowned
carwow, the UK’s leading car marketplace, has revealed the hotly anticipated winners of its annual car awards for 2023.
MG, BMW and Porsche took the spotlight with multiple wins each, while MG was also honoured with overall Car of The Year for its MG4 model.
This year, carwow reviewed hundreds of vehicles, with only 16 individual models receiving a ‘Buy It’ seal of approval. This is a personal recommendation from Mat Watson, who leads carwow's highly-respected and influential editorial team.
The awards shine a spotlight on the very best vehicles on the market. carwow has become one of the most influential names in consumer car media with the biggest automotive channel on YouTube recording more than 709 million views in 2021 and entertaining 7.6 million subscribers. The ‘Buy It’ trophy is awarded to the cars scoring the highest ratings in the carwow test drive reviews.
Mat Watson, Chief Content Officer at carwow, said: “carwow exists to give everyone confidence when it comes to buying, selling and driving their car. We hope our ‘Buy It’ Awards give anyone considering what car to drive the certainty they need to buy confidently. Whether it's a small hatchback or supercar, performance petrol model or efficient EV, if it’s made our ‘Buy It’ Award list, it is among the very best cars on sale right now. These winners are diverse in capabilities, but have one thing very much in common - they’re the best at what they do, be it high-performance driving or practical family life.”
MG4 has been crowned carwow’s 2023 ‘Car of the Year’: “MG has made huge strides with interior and infotainment quality and it’s a bargain compared with some of the other electric vehicles from mainstream brands,” said Watson, “It’s easily one of the best electric cars on sale right now - the MG4 is the best car I’ve driven all year.”
‘Manufacturer of the Year’ was awarded to Kia: Kia has become known for its quality that runs across the range, with the Sportage and Sorento backed up by the new Niro, in hybrid, PHEV and electric forms, and a market-leading seven-year warranty across all its models. “I love what Kia’s doing, and I’m looking forward to the next round of new products continuing to break new ground and push the brand further and higher,” said Watson.
The award for ‘Most hotly-anticipated new car of 2023’ goes to the Honda Civic Type-R launching in Q1 2023. Watson said: “I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the new Civic Type-R; the previous cars have always been hot hatch royalty and all the signs suggest that this new model could even be the best yet.”
